solace-privacy-policy

Effective date: 2026-06-19 Applies to: Solace v1.0 and later (Android)

Solace (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what Solace does and does not collect, where your data lives, and what choices you have.

1. The short version

2. What Solace stores on your device

The following is saved in encrypted local storage on the device. It does not leave the device unless you actively share or export it.

You may export all of this as JSON or erase it entirely at any time.

3. What Solace does NOT collect

4. Permissions

Solace will ask the operating system for the following permissions only when you choose to use the corresponding feature:

5. Third-party services

Google AdMob (ads)

Solace shows banner and interstitial ads via Google AdMob (a Google service). When an ad loads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

This data is processed by Google for ad serving and measurement. Solace requests non-personalized ads by default; you can also opt out of personalized advertising in your device’s system settings (Settings → Google → Ads on Android). For details on Google’s handling of advertising data, see Google’s policies at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

The Help & FAQ and Find-a-Therapist screens link to third-party sites (Psychology Today, Open Path Collective, Inclusive Therapists, Therapy for Black Girls, IASP, 988, Crisis Text Line, SAMHSA). When you open those links, your interaction is governed by the third party’s own privacy policy. Solace does not share any data with these services beyond opening the URL.

6. Children’s privacy

Solace is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to help you choose tools appropriate for you.

7. Your choices

8. Data retention

Because Solace stores everything locally, retention is entirely under your control. We do not hold a copy on any server.

9. Security

Local data is stored using the platform-provided secure storage (encrypted at rest on modern Android). No transmission to our servers means no remote breach surface. Be aware that anyone with physical access to your unlocked device may also be able to open the app — turn on a device passcode, fingerprint, or both.

10. International users

Because no data is sent to us, GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA “data subject” rights such as access, rectification, and deletion are exercised entirely on-device through the export and reset features described above.

11. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how Solace handles data — for example by adding optional cloud sync or analytics — we will update this policy, change the “Effective date” above, and surface a notice inside the app before the change takes effect.

12. Contact
